David Kelly - Palm Springs California - Kapaa , Hawaii
WHO SAYS FINE ART HAS TO HANG ON WALLS? I am self taught as an artist, other than the usual art education one received back in the 60's (grade school and high school). I have worked in watercolor for over 40 years and have applied the knowledge of how watercolors react to different surfaces and applying it to painting on silk. MUCH more difficult to do than on paper, especially when I want the detail that I created on my paper. Layering dyes and paints in a series of glazes, as many as 40 layers, allows me to achieve the depth, color and detail that can be seen in my hand painted neck ties. Due to the number of layers and the drying time involved, it can take 40-50 hours to complete each work of art. If you visit the Palm Springs area of Southern California, I teach painting at The Desert Art Center on Sunday mornings. I am also available for Private Lessons and Private and Corporate Commissions.
